The cemetery is located near the former Cistercian monastery and served to the inhabitants of the local settlement. In connection with the danger of a plague epidemic, it was built in 1709 by Abbot Václav Vejmluva.

The building carried the symbolism of the Holy Trinity, which was expressed by three chapels at tops of the imaginary triangle of the cemetery. In 1755, Abbot Bernard Hennet had the cemetery expanded and a fourth chapel was built. The chapels are connected by convex-concave-convex enclosure walls. In the center of the space, there stands a stone statue of the Angel of the Last Judgment, the work of Řehoř Thény, on a triangular pedestal.
