Abbot Vejmluva probably hired Santini to decorate and architecturally improve the austere interior of the gothic abbey church.

The interior of the abbey church was probably renovated in two stages, and a document dated from 1722 describes it as already completed.

The architecturally extraordinary achievement of this renovation was the insertion of the bridge for organ galleries into the transept in front of the presbytery. The organ bridge is a unique work both in terms of its construction and artistic design. Furthermore, the walls and vaults were decorated with relatively simple abstract motives and a new main altar was erected. It was completed in its current form at about 1734-1735, using an older painting by Leopold Michael Willmann and sculptures by Řehoř Thény. The exterior of the church was not affected by Santini's renovations.
