The construction of the church was started in an unusual way for such a large construction project - in the middle of the construction season, on August 13, 1719. However, it was apparently only preparatory work, such as measuring, digging and laying bricks for the foundations of the future building.

In the meantime, it was necessary to ensure a large supply of material for the next year and to contract a sufficient number of professional workers and laborers so that the construction could continue without complications.

During the spring of 1720, work continued rapidly under the leadership of the builder Jan Jakub Vogler from Kutná Hora. On May 16, 1720, a ceremony was held at the construction site to lay the foundation stone and the rough construction of the church was probably finished in 1721. It was definitely completed the following year. In the same year, the sanctuary was provisionally equipped and decorated. On 27 September 1722, a ceremonial consecration took place, but work on the site did not end there. It was necessary to complete the cloister, the brick foundations of which were probably still waiting to be covered with earth. The church also needed permanent furnishings and decorations. According to historical records, the cloister was not completed until around 1740. The harsh winters in the 1760s were the reason for some relatively sensitive structural modifications to the cloister; some portals from the corridor to the courtyard were bricked up and the portals of the gates and individual chapels were lowered.
