He was born in Ledeč nad Sázavou in 1754. He became a priest in the Cistercian monastery of Žďár nad Sázavou and was the youngest member of the community at the time of monastery's abolition. After leaving the monastery, he lived in Tišnov, then in Šebetov and in Letovice.

Later on, he returned to the dissolved monastery at the turn of the 1790s to serve as an assistant priest. He significantly participated in the partial restoration of the equipment of the former abbey church and gained supporters for the restoration of the Church of St John of Nepomuk at Zelená Hora. Shortly before his death, he lived in Ostrovačice. However, he was buried, at his own request, directly in the grounds of the Church of St John of Nepomuk, near the western entrance gate.
