Welcome to Zelena hora - Green Hill!

Welcome to the official sites of the Pilgrimage Church of St John of Nepomuk at Zelena hora in Zdar nad Sazavou, national cultural heritage and the UNESCO World heritage monument.

The Pilgrim Church of St John of Nepomuk at Zelena hora (Green Hill)  was built between 1719 and 1722 according to the plans of Jan Blažej Santini Aichl from the initiative of Vaclav Vejmluva, a significant abbot of the Cistercian monastery. The church is one of the supreme pieces of Baroque Gothic in Europe. The pilgrimage site was added to UNESCO Heritage List in 1994. The Pilgrim Church of St John of Nepomuk at Zelena hora was returned to the property of the church - The Roman Catholic Parish of Zdar nad Sazavou II in August 2014, after a long period of 50 years.

General 1 Vladimir Zalesky, Parish Priest"As I said before, we would like to return the Church of St John of Nepomuk to regular pilgrimage services and ceremonies and provide spiritual services to pilgrim groups but we also want to make it accessible for everybody who wants to see this pearl of architecture and our spiritual history. We also plan to offer the visitors more possibilities during the off-season when most sights are closed. Wide range of spiritual cultural programmes and concerts are planned ass well as suitable educational programmes for schools. We would like to increase the quality of the UNESCO monument presentation and tourist services through dutiful choice, education and training of our tourist guides."

P. Mgr. Vladimir Zalesky, Parish priest
